Consult dashboards and build a business analysis

Use common filters and drill down into totals before creating or distributing a custom analysis.

Before you start

Know the question, measure, company and period. Creating a graphical BI view requires BI View Editor Manager; SQL report design requires an administrator familiar with the data model.

Step by step

1. Read a published dashboard

Open Dashboards and choose the relevant sales, CRM, purchases, inventory or manufacturing view. Check company, dates and filters before comparing indicators. Open underlying records where available and verify whether a count refers to orders, lines, deliveries or invoices.

2. Define a graphical BI view

In Custom BI Views, create a view and use Query Builder to select the business objects and fields. Assign rows, columns and measures through field options. Save, choose Generate BI View and then Open BI View. Compare a small known sample before publishing a dedicated menu.

3. Use a reviewed SQL report

Open Dashboards > SQL Reports and select the report published by the administrator. Switch between list, pivot and graph as needed. For a materialized report, confirm the refresh schedule: it may show a snapshot rather than changes made seconds ago.

4. Review totals and audience

Compare totals against an operational report with identical filters. Review allowed groups and company restrictions before exposing the report to another team. Record the indicator definition and refresh date beside exports so readers can reproduce the numbers.

Expected result

An analysis has a known measure, data origin, refresh point and audience.

If something goes wrong

Joining orders with multiple lines or invoices can multiply totals. Check the level of detail and aggregation before trusting a new BI view. Resetting a graphical view to draft removes its generated menu, which must be recreated after regeneration.
