Analyze buffer history and DDMRP exceptions

Explain replenishment priorities using historical stock positions, consumption assumptions and estimated replenishment costs.

Before you start

Buffers must already be configured and calculated. Some installed DDMRP extensions have a separate proprietary license; their availability is independent of the Odoo Enterprise switch.

Step by step

1. Read historical priorities

Open Inventory > Reports > DDMRP Buffer History or the history chart at the bottom of a buffer. Compare planning and execution positions over the same period. Inspect stockouts and delayed receipts before changing buffer parameters.

2. Review stockout-day treatment

Where Censor Shortage Periods is enabled in the ADU method, inspect Censored Days and the maximum percentage. This extension adjusts historical actual-demand calculations by excluding eligible stockout days. Check warehouse calendar and historical coverage before interpreting a rise in average daily usage.

3. Review replenishment cost and subcontracting

Compare recommended quantity and Procure Cost, checking the displayed currency and supplier price or product cost used as a basis. For subcontracted products, inspect the main supplier and component supply policy on the bill: supply per order and continuous supply lead to different lead-time assumptions.

4. Record and review adjustments

Record the reason for changing the ADU method, profile or supply assumption. Recalculate and compare affected buffers before releasing replenishment. Shared profiles affect multiple products; use the history and dashboard to follow the result over subsequent cycles.

Expected result

Replenishment decisions have an explanation based on history and reviewed parameters.

If something goes wrong

Missing history, calendar changes or a stale supplier price can distort the comparison. Procure Cost is an estimate, not an approved purchase commitment. Confirm the selected supplier and currency on the actual order.
