Deliver a project and reconcile its costs

Organize the work sold to a customer, follow tasks and milestones, and trace purchasing and manufacturing costs through the project analytic account.

Before you start

Have a project owner, customer, delivery scope and access policy. For automatic creation from sales, configure service tracking on the product and review the invoicing policy.

Step by step

1. Create and assign the work

Create a project or open the project/task generated by the confirmed service sale. Check the customer and sales-line link. Create tasks with owner, deadline, stage and useful acceptance criteria. Configure recurring tasks or the project email alias only when those intake methods are intended.

2. Follow execution and acceptance

Move tasks as work progresses, record blocking issues and schedule follow-up activities. Use the available timeline and employee leave information when planning dates. Review deliverables with the responsible person before completing tasks or marking billable milestones reached.

4. Invoice and close the cycle

Inspect invoiceable sales quantities or milestones and create the invoice under the agreed policy. Reconcile project revenue, committed costs and actual costs. Review customer portal visibility and any requested rating before closing or archiving completed work.

Expected result

Deliverables, sales and costs are linked to a project with clear ownership and acceptance.

If something goes wrong

For missing costs, inspect analytic distribution, company, document state and access rights. The demo has no timesheet application installed; use its configured quantity or milestone policy. Subscription-related project revenue requires the Enterprise subscription modules.
