Prepare a product for Brazilian operations¶
Use one reviewed product record across quotations, purchases, stock movements and fiscal documents. Its fiscal classification affects the document lines created later.
Before you start¶
Have the product description, units, supplier references and fiscal classifications approved by the responsible team. Check the active company and permission to edit products.
Step by step¶
1. Identify the product¶
Open Products from Sales, Purchase or Inventory. Search by name, internal reference and barcode before creating a record. Fill the description and reference; distinguish a service from a stockable or consumable product.
2. Review commercial and stock settings¶
Set whether the product can be sold and purchased. Review the unit of measure, purchase unit, category, price, invoicing policy and tracking when applicable. For purchased items, add the supplier reference and delivery lead time.
3. Complete the Brazilian classification¶
In the fiscal fields, review the origin, fiscal type and NCM for goods. Complete CEST or service classification only when applicable to the operation. Use the classifications supplied by the fiscal team; a similar description does not establish the correct classification.
4. Check a draft operation¶
Save the product and use it in a test quotation or purchase draft with a representative customer or supplier. Check the description, unit, fiscal operation and calculated taxes. Correct the product before reusing it in other documents.
Expected result¶
A reusable product record with commercial, stock and fiscal information reviewed together.
If something goes wrong¶
If taxes differ from expectations, check the company’s regime, partner, fiscal operation and product classification together. Avoid creating another product just to work around a fiscal error. A missing NCM after XML import requires review before a subsequent sale.
