Review receivables, payables and installments¶
Use due dates and outstanding amounts to follow collections and payments without losing the link to the invoice and fiscal document.
Before you start¶
Check the company, posted invoices, payment terms, payment mode and access to due lists. A commercial payment schedule should be checked against the actual installments generated on the invoice.
Step by step¶
1. Locate open installments¶
Open the receivable or payable due list in Accounting. Filter by company, due date and open balance; group by customer or supplier. Review the original amount, residual amount, due date, days overdue and payment mode.
2. Check the originating invoice¶
Open the invoice for a selected installment. Compare the number of installments and their total with the payment terms and invoice amount. Review discounts, advances and withholding with the responsible team when they affect the payable or receivable amount.
3. Record and reconcile the payment¶
Use Register Payment or the configured payment-order workflow with the correct journal, date, amount and reference. For a partial payment, keep the residual amount open. Match the bank transaction through reconciliation before considering the bank balance confirmed.
Expected result¶
Open balances and due dates reflect recorded payments and their reconciliation, with an audit trail to the original invoice.
If something goes wrong¶
If an installment disappears, remove filters and check paid status and company. If it remains open after payment, inspect the linked payment and reconciliation rather than entering another payment. For date-filter problems in this demo, use the due-date field and days-overdue column directly.
