Frequently Asked Questions
Does Odoo need an external system to issue NF-e in Brazil?
No. With the OCA l10n-brazil localization installed and configured by KMEE, Odoo issues NF-e, NFC-e, NFS-e, CT-e and MDF-e directly, with no need for external issuers or third-party systems. Transmission is done via webservice directly to the state SEFAZ or city hall, with the authorization protocol response stored in Odoo itself.
How does Odoo handle contingency when SEFAZ is unavailable?
The system automatically activates EPEC contingency mode (Prior Event of Issuance in Contingency), which replaced the former DPEC, for NF-e or offline mode for NFC-e when it detects a communication failure with SEFAZ. Invoices issued in contingency are stored locally and transmitted automatically as soon as SEFAZ is back online, with no user intervention. The system also supports SVC-AN mode (Virtual Contingency SEFAZ) for greater resilience.
Which city halls does Odoo support for NFS-e issuance?
The Brazilian localization supports integration with more than 200 Brazilian city halls via webservice, including major municipalities such as Sao Paulo (Nota Fiscal Paulistana's own standard), Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Recife, Fortaleza and Salvador. For municipalities that are not integrated, the system supports issuing an RPS (Provisional Service Receipt) with later batch submission to the city hall. KMEE handles the mapping of services, ISS rates and configuration of the integration with the customer's specific city hall.
How do bank slip generation and PIX integration work in Odoo?
Odoo integrates directly with the APIs of the main Brazilian banks (Itau, Bradesco, Santander, Banco do Brasil, Caixa, Sicoob, Sicredi) to issue registered bank slips. The barcode and the typeable line are generated automatically on the invoice. For PIX, the system generates a static QR Code (for fixed amounts) and a dynamic one (with debtor data and due date), according to the Central Bank's EMV standard. PIX payment confirmation can be done automatically via the bank account's webhook.
Does Odoo correctly handle ISS, IRRF and INSS withholdings on service invoices?
Yes. For each registered service, it is possible to configure ISS rates (by municipality), IRRF (by income type), CSLL, PIS, COFINS and INSS withheld at source. The system automatically identifies whether the withholding is the provider's or the recipient's obligation (when the recipient is a legal entity above the legal threshold), calculates the correct amounts and shows them on the NFS-e XML and on the printed document. The data automatically feeds ancillary obligations such as EFD-Reinf and SPED.
